Democratizing Digital Farming for All
Farmtopia is a HORIZON Innovation Actions project working towards a future and agricultural landscape where ADSs (Agricultural Digital Technologies) for small farms are more easily created, deployed, and paid for.
That means the project will be fostering the co-creation of farm-suitable ADSs, and it will aim to cut costs for farmers by creating sustainable business and governance models, reusable software modules, and infrastructure that can scale up ADS.
This will democratise farming for all, especially in the EU, where the use of these technologies among farmers has been limited. Allowing access to cost-effective ADSs’ could boost further economic and environmental impact.
Our role in the project
FARMTOPIA by numbers
- 64,000+ small farms provided with validated ADSs
- 18 Sustainable Innovation Pilots (SIPs)
- 9 SIPs have been pre-selected
- 9 SIPs will be awarded through an Open Call
- SIPs will be located in at least 15 countries in Europe
- The SIPs will focus on specific crops and livestock for which current ADSs are underdeveloped and inadequate
- The SIPs will also focus on crops of regional importance
- Targets farmers, ADSs providers, farm advisors, scientists, policy makers, AKIS (Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems) actors, etc.
