Cracking the data to mitigate fruit cracking
Smart Farming represents the application of modern Information and Communication Technologies into agriculture, leading to what can be called a Third Green Revolution, and it is based on feedback from sensor data.
CrackSense aims to develop and upscale sensing technologies to provide real time sensor data for addressing the problem of cracking in fruit production. By improving the agricultural production of 4 selected crops (citrus, pomegranate, table grapes and sweet cherries), CrackSense will help in creating a model for other agricultural crops.
Our role in the project
The project’s results will be communicated, disseminated, and exploited under the direction of Foodscale Hub. The key priorities are: generating awareness, developing a solid and identifiable image for the CrackSense initiative, and ensuring an effective communication and dissemination strategy. FSH will create innovative and structured marketing strategies to achieve these goals. In addition, FSH will develop a business and exploitation plan that will assure the project’s financial success after it is completed.
CRACKSENSE by numbers
- 4 types of fruits > citrus, table grapes, sweet cherries, and pomegranate;
- 5 different climatic regions, on 2 continents;
- 30% higher financial gains for farmers and growers;
- Working with the 10+ most sophisticated Data & Real Time sensor technologies;
- Reducing 1/3rd of the yield losses due to cracking;
