The ENAG project, which is being implemented as part of the Interreg VI-A IPA programme, co-financed by the European Union, was created in response to the numerous challenges women in the rural areas of Bačka in Serbia and Bács-Kiskun in the Csongrád-Csanád County in Hungary face.
These areas are characterised by depopulation, a high rate of unemployment among women, and limited opportunities for education and business empowerment. Despite agriculture being one of the primary sectors in these regions, women continue to face barriers in fulfilling their entrepreneurial potential, which is further exacerbated by limited access to digital tools, modern knowledge, and markets.
ENAG aims to create a digital ecosystem that provides comprehensive support to women in agriculture through an innovative educational programme tailored to the needs of the modern agricultural sector. As part of the project, a comprehensive digital platform will be developed, offering women access to specialised training in agribusiness entrepreneurship, sustainable production, business digitalisation, as well as business planning, and marketing. The platform will also feature a mentor database, resources with best practice examples, as well as networking opportunities with other entrepreneurs, experts, and institutions on both sides of the border.
Survey: “Training Needs for Women in Agribusiness”
To ensure that the training programmes align with the actual needs of women in agribusiness, a survey is currently being conducted to gather data to help identify training requirements for women already engaged in agribusiness, as well as those aspiring to build a professional career in this sector.
The survey is intended to women that live in the Bačka region of Serbia and fall under one of the following categories:
Women in the NEET category – individuals aged 15-29 who are not engaged in education, employment, or training;
Female entrepreneurs – owners of businesses in the agricultural sector;
Women employed in managerial positions in the agricultural sector.
The deadline for submitting survey responses is April 10th, 2025. A report on survey results will be available on the LinkedIn page of the ENAG project. To learn more about the ENAG project and the opportunities it will provide to women in agribusiness, visit the ENAG portfolio.
