Foodscale Hub at the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad: Exploring the Future of Agriculture – Together

Between May 17-22nd, 2025, Foodscale Hub took part in the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, Serbia, one of the most important events in the region for the agri-food sector. Our booth quickly became a hub of activity, hosting workshops and live demonstrations that offered visitors a hands-on look at our ongoing projects. These conversations sparked fresh ideas, while giving us direct feedback from farmers, researchers, and agri-entrepreneurs on the challenges and innovations shaping the future of agriculture.
Kicking Things Off with a Special Visit
On the opening day of the Fair, we were honoured to welcome Emanuele Giaufret, the Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia, to our booth. He engaged in conversation with Foodscale Hub’s CEO, Prof. Dr. Mladen Radišić, to learn more about the projects we are involved in and the impact we aim to achieve. His recognition of our contribution to the EU’s research and innovation landscape was deeply appreciated.

Workshops, Demos and Conversations About the Future of Agriculture
Through the joint workshop of the STEP UP and Digi4Live projects, we explored innovation in livestock farming. The session aimed to explore how digital tools can help reduce environmental impact while improving animal welfare. The workshop turned into a lively exchange of ideas with farmers, visitors and institutional representatives from across Serbia on how these digital solutions can be applied locally.
Midweek, the CrackSense project held an Open Day all about fruit cracking prevention, which poses a major challenge in orchards. Visitors saw a demo and got an up-close look at a mini version of the TOMMY system, a sensor-based device for monitoring orchards and providing early warnings. Srdjan Penjivrag from VizLore Labs, a project partner, walked everyone through how it works in practice.
The TALLHEDA project hosted its own Open Day, bringing together educators, industry experts and curious minds, to discuss the role of education in agriculture’s digital transformation. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Ćirić from the University of Novi Sad shared insights into the contribution higher education can make, while Bojana Kuzmanović from Foodscale Hub demonstrated the TALLHEDA Virtual Innovation Hub, a platform designed for knowledge exchange. Highlights included digital tools in action, such as Nikola Koprilović from Terra Consulting’s presentation and a live demo of DynaCrop, a cutting-edge crop monitoring tool showcased by Ervin Csoke from World from Space.

A Chance to Connect and Learn – for Us and Our Visitors
Outside the scheduled events, our team was available throughout the Fair to talk about the full range of projects we are involved in. Many of these focus on providing scientific, financial, educational and business support across the agri-food system.
Visitors had a chance to learn more about our ongoing projects, including FarmBioNet, ENAG, Farmtopia, VALPRO Path, WiseFood, STELAR, INCiTiS-Food, OpenAgri, IPMorama, InPlasTwin, PLANTOMYC, SunFusion, RefreSCAR, RIA4FOOD, FUELPHORIA and TITAN. Through these projects, we continue to support innovation and scale up sustainable solutions in agriculture.

Why This Matters
For us, this event is more than just a chance to showcase our work — it is a chance to listen. By engaging directly with farmers, researchers and various stakeholders across the industry, we gain a clearer understanding of the challenges we try to address.
This year’s Fair reinforced what we already believe: the future of agriculture depends on strong links between science, innovation and everyday practice. We will continue to support this vision through the work we do.
