Enabling MS/AC and the EC to Work in Partnership for a Reinforced EU Bioeconomy R&I System
The Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR), composed of EU Member States and Associated Countries and led by the European Commission, is a trusted source of advice on European agricultural and bioeconomy research. It plays a key role in coordinating national research and innovation (R&I) programmes.
The RefreSCAR project aims to strengthen SCAR’s Working Groups (WGs) and improve coordination of national and European bioeconomy R&I programmes. Key activities include providing scientific support, offering administrative assistance for Horizon Europe and EU strategies, and developing the SCAR-Engage Programme to enhance participation from under-represented countries.
The project will also facilitate communication, foster connections between WGs, EU policy actors, and international initiatives, and empower WGs with better resources, enhancing SCAR’s role in the European Research Area. These efforts will promote effective research-policy-practice interactions and broader stakeholder engagement.
Our role in the project
FSH supports SCAR Working Groups (WGs) in transforming their outputs into visually engaging and shareable content, including:
- Formatted reports, infographics, and videos for social media and presentations.
- Leading the SCAR-Engage Programme to boost participation, enhance visibility, and provide networking, peer-to-peer, and financial support for under-represented MS/AC countries and new SCAR WG members.
- Bridging the gap between research and policy by facilitating interactive webinars and innovation hackathons, bringing together SCAR WG members, R&I actors, policy makers, and practitioners for collaborative discussions.
