Integrated assessment of urban farming impacts and policies for boosting sustainable urban agricultural development linking urban, peri-urban and rural areas
F OODCITYBOOST will aid in the fight against climate change by contributing to the reduction of air, water, and soil pollution and will safeguard biodiversity. The project will realise these goals by developing an urban farming (UF) sustainability assessment tool of UF systems; an integrated rural-urban assessment framework; and will develop novel prototypes of UF systems. The project is led by the Vrije University Amsterdam and collaborates with more than 100 stakeholders through six case studies, using living labs, to evaluate urban agriculture. FOODCITYBOOST furthermore feeds into policy making bodies through dissemination of policy briefs, driving innovation and collaboration between the stakeholders, and it addresses sustainability. The project answers the urgent need expressed both by policy makers and practitioners, of knowledge regarding benefit, impacts, and risks linked to urban agriculture..
